Occasionally, there are moments in life that are exceptionally awesome—and for us, one of these moments happened last fall–right here at our cozy café in Sault Ste. Marie. What started out as a wild off the wall idea became an official Guinness World Record: the Tallest Stack of Doughnuts in One Minute (Team of Two).
That’s right—we’re world record holders. (Hold for applause)
In a whirlwind sixty seconds, we stacked donut after donut with one hand each, the other behind our backs-alternating turns in a blur of focus, balance, and buttery perfection. No icing. No cheating. No stabilizers. Just fresh donuts, a bit of elbow grease, and a whole lot of family spirit.
Guinness has strict guidelines (and we mean strict). Every donut had to fall within very specific dimensions, be untouched by adhesives (including glazes or icing), and be stacked from a single layer on the table. We followed each rule to the letter—with independent witnesses, two timekeepers, and video footage (including one slow motion take for careful review by the Guinness adjudicators) to prove it.
The final tower? A glorious, gravity-defying stack of fresh donuts that stood tall for the required 10 seconds after the timer buzzed before toppling over onto it’s side. The celebration? Immediate. The excitement? Impossible to describe.
It was important to us that this wasn’t just a fun stunt. Every donut used in the attempt was made fresh in-house and was enjoyed afterward—zero waste, full bellies, and lots of laughs. We were surrounded by friends and family, and it was a great feeling to share this with so many of them.
Why did we do it? Because life is short, and if you’re going to go after something, why not make it really random and fun? This is what donut dreams are made of. This is the donut life.
